The order of the night

The night starts before the movie does. Reception, auction, and screening all happen at the Culver Theater.

4:00

Doors and VIP reception

An hour reserved for VIP guests. Costumed performers move through the crowd.

5:00

Into the auditorium

The whole room moves in together and finds its seats. Dinner is brought to you there.

5:15

The auction

Two lots, called live from the floor. Bidding moves fast, and what it raises pays for the training.

5:30

Dune: Part Three

Lights down, before opening weekend, with 150 people who chose to be there.

You'll also be asked to introduce yourself to at least one person you don't know. That isn't an icebreaker gimmick, it's the house rule.

The circle of people you meet stops growing as you get older, unless something forces it back open. That's what the night is for.

A Damascus steel crysknife, its folded pattern visible along the blade

The lots

Two custom Damascus crysknives, forged for this night by master blacksmith Emiliano Carrillo. The pattern in the steel comes from folding the billet by hand, so no two blades are alike and these will not be made again.

Two lots, two winners. Valued at $5,000 each

Where the money goes

Citizen Medic Foundation teaches first aid, CPR, and disaster preparedness to people outside medicine, the ones most likely to be first at the scene.

Each workshop trains 30 to 50 people. Students pay $20 to $30, and we waive it for anyone who asks. The Foundation covers the rest, about $1,000 a workshop: extra instructors so the groups stay small enough that everyone practices, mannequin rental, food, and the bandages and slings that get used up.

Seats

There are 150 seats, and every one includes dinner brought to your seat. VIP adds the reception, with light snacks and drinks, arrival by 4:00 PM. Standard is dinner and the film, arrival by 5:00 PM. There's no late seating once the film starts at 5:30. Choose one to continue to checkout.

Early access. Seats are open to the invitation list only until {{ cutoffLabel }}, then the page goes public.

Before you buy

Is this the same as the public opening?

No. This is a private screening on December 17, before opening weekend. The auditorium is booked for guests of Citizen Medic.

Where do I go, and where do I park?

Everything happens at the Culver Theater. Park in any of the three Culver City lots: 9099 Washington, 3846 Cardiff, or 3844 Watseka. The city covers the first hour, and the theater validates two more, so bring your ticket inside. Three EV charging stations are at 9099 Washington.

What should I wear?

No rule, but past guests have dressed up. Blazers, a good jacket, something with personality. Nobody has ever been overdressed here.

Can I bring my kids?

This one’s for the grown-ups. Drinks are served all night, so every guest needs to be 21 or over.

What if I can’t make it after all?

Your seat is transferable. Email events@citizenmedic.org and we’ll move it to whoever takes your place.

Anything else, including dietary needs, accessibility, and seating a group together, write to events@citizenmedic.org.
